I finished Jade last night. She was actually quite fun to paint and I got to play with my new GW washes a lot. Today was matte varnish day. I used my W&N brush on matte varnish and made sure to shake it for a loooooong time. I tested it a little on her base, and it looked fine. When I applied it to the mini it resulted in a minor disaster. The varnish seemed to dissolve the thin layers of inks and paint and it started peeling off. I was able to save the paintjob with the help of Vallejo red glaze, but she is still shiny :(

A varnish incident

Are you going to try again with a different brand of varnish?
ReplyDeleteYes, I will definitely try. I ordered three different kinds in my nerd rage last night, so I'm hoping at least one of them will be good :D
