Fighting those bad habits!

Back when I painted for publication work, I had the terrible habit of painting only the part of the mini that would be photographed. For example this poor elf for the Celtos Sidhe army book (which was never published btw.... booooo!).

Front: Not too bad, eh? Nice nail polish too.

Back: Not so great.... though the nice nail polish saves the day

I have 3 or 4 other minis like this, and I've decided that they will be painted. Completely! It will be a challenge because these "paintjobs" are old, and I don't have the same paints now, but it will be done! Stay tuned for the finished Irdril.

Liralith Redux

After all that grey and green army painting I needed some color. When I want to relax painting something, I often choose a Hasslefree mini since those tend to have simple, clean lines and good definition. I always loved the original Liralith mini, and the redux version is even better. I wanted to do a really dramatic red. The highlights on her lower legs look a little strange because her legs have edges (?).

WIP terrain and manhunter

I was browsing the Armorcast website and found a basin they made with Hirst Arts blocks. I thought that was an idea worth stealing, so I convinced my boy friend that we had to make a copy. We did 6 or 7 casts of the two Hirst Art molds with the pipes. In the end we had enough blocks to make another piece of terrain. The two are part of a water treatment plant. I imagine the basin is a sediment basin and the other piece is a filtration system. After the basin is painted; I'm going to pour some resin in there to make it look like water.

I'm also working on a manhunter for my Warmachine army. This sculpt is so dumb. If the male manhunter was running around wearing fur and a naked belly, it wouldn't be considered cool, but for the female it's expected....
